Despite a zillion pictures in a lifetime, the real thing is still better. |
Even five millennia ago, the archetype of the beautiful and serene sisters was powerfully evocative. No one knows for sure what happened on this porch, which is without apparent access. |
Snakes were important symbols of regeneration and fecundity. This god (or goddess?) wore a cape held together by snakes. |
